The Lame Pig Has Lost It

Sasquatch is Anti-Social . . . But Sharing is Caring

Yesterday Jennie noticed that one of the weaners had an eye that was swollen shut. Everything points to the mountain lion getting a swipe at this guy before the lion picked off his cousin. So there are now two pigs recovering from mountain lion injuries in one herd.

And of course, because life is always exciting at Sasquatch Wallows, while I was picking up more cut and wrapped pork from the butcher and failing at picking up the landlord’s tractor, the lame pig left his paddock and wandered up to the house. Jennie and the kids wrangled him and got him into the lean-to.

The whole time he was very calm and let Jennie pick him up to get him where he needed to be.

Having him in the lean-to made it possible to easily clean out his wound and getter a closer look at it. It’s a nasty looking leg, but he’s putting weight on it and walking just fine.

Being alone in a strange place he never was able to settle down. After a few hours I hugged him in a blanket and Jennie drove us down to his paddock in the side-by-side. He went right back into the herd and everyone seemed glad he was back.

But then about an hour later, here comes the lame pig walking up the Pond Loop right into the backyard. Again, he was very calm and let me pick him up and put him back into the lean-to.

We’re now planning on just keeping him in the lean-to for a couple of days before trying to return him to his herd.

Have I mentioned yet how much I want to kill this mountain lion?
