Moving Pigs Back to Poop Hill

Sasquatch is Anti-Social . . . But Sharing is Caring

Moving pigs is a lot of work. Once they jack up a paddock (see Silvo-Pasture Fall Seeding – Before and After), they either move to a previous paddock or they are moved to a brand new paddock.

At least when I’m moving them back on to a paddock they have already been on the process is simple and straightforward. I simply need to weed-eat the fence lines where any brush has grown up, string the wire on the t-posts, and then place plastic fence posts in between the t-posts.

Getting the Poop Hill paddock set up for pigs again took approximately six hours.

I then moved the herd that was at the inner first switchback paddock to the Poop Hill paddock. This herd currently consists of two boars (Dale and Half), five sows (Rose, Rita, Scar, Saddle, Sweetie), and sixteen weaners.

Of course the other herd with Bacon, Ricki Lake, and the others needed to be moved off of the Pond Loop paddock. So after prepping Poop Hill I also prepped Galt’s Gultch and moved Bacon’s herd over too. Luckily, that only took about four hours.
