Meet Your Meat: Bear Getting Dirty with the Sows

Sasquatch is Anti-Social . . . But Sharing is Caring

The Willamette Valley supplies many of Oregon’s farmer’s markets and Community Supported Agriculture CSA shares. As the center of the Northwest’s farm to table culture, its proximity to Portland, Salem, and Eugene has allowed people to get to know their local family farmer.

Sasquatch takes it a step further; he thinks it’s important you meet your meat before you eat.

Meet Your Meat: Bear (the boar)

Bear is our year old Mangalitsa by Red Wattle boar. He is currently entertaining the ladies. Multiple litters of new bacon bits should arrive in early 2021.

A couple days ago Sasquatch Wallows was  hit with a huge rain and wind storm. The nearly three inches of rain turned the flat feeding area in Bear’s paddock to a glorious mud wallow. As you would guess, Bear is a pig and he acted like one. He thoroughly enjoyed getting dirty with the sows.  Butcher Block Update:

We are currently sold out of our whole and half hog shares. However, be sure to sign up for the newsletter at the bottom of the page to be notified when we start selling our pig shares for January and February.

We also just received more cut pork back from the butcher. If you have the password to the Pork page, be on the lookout for many out of stock items to be back in stock. FYI, we will have cut pork available to the general public in January.
