New Simple Tarp Shelters

Sasquatch is Anti-Social . . . But Sharing is Caring

With larger herds this winter I’m going to need larger shelters for the pigs. I’m experimenting with making larger shelters by simply stringing up tarps in the trees to cover the areas where they have previously used as bedding areas.

This shelter was put up in the Poop Hill paddock. There is a naturally protected area next to first switch back. I cleared out the branches from the fir trees and pieced together four tarps to provide a 16×20 shelter. We also spread some wood shavings for them as bedding. See Experimenting with Wood Shavings as Bedding.

Even if this type of shelter works, I will need to figure something out for when it snows because these shelters will collapse under the weight of our wet Oregon snow.
